Accidental Heatless Waves

Sprayed some of my favorite Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray on my hair today since I love the scent. I had to put my hair up in a bun since it was boiling out and a few hours later I had to undo the bun.

HAIR REVOLUTION

I was invited by L'Oreal Philippines to be one of the first few to try out their newest hair treatment at the Bench Fix salon in Glorietta.

The Steam Pod is an amazing new technology that is used for the Steam Care and Steam Bond service. It's the world's 1st Heat & High Pressure Steam Iron that treats the hair while smoothing it.  After 5 years of research and 8 patents, L'OrĂ©al combines the force of hair straightening steam and the ultimate repair of steam-powered Pro-Keratin for mirror-shine, long lasting results and ultimate care as there's no carcinogen gas forming through heat from rebonding or care treatments with formaldehyde.

I tried out the Steam Care service and the Steampod's anti-frizz and smoothing effect lasted up to 3 days. If you want a permanent smoothing service with Pro-Keratine you can opt for the Steam Bond- the effect is evident until your new hair grows!

As promised, my hair stayed super straight for days. I had sleek hair with mirror shine in time for my birthday! Being someone who doesn't own a comb and use heat styling tools, I really loved the effect of the Steampod. I even thought about straightening my hair permanently a few days after the treatment. What do you guys think?

L'Oreal Philippines is currently holding an online contest and they're giving away an iPad mini and steam pod treatments. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook as they're announcing the mechanics tomorrow. Good luck!

Wish my hair was like this every day!
Makeup + hair by the MaxFactor team a while ago at the Parisian Shoes photo shoot! The whole team was super nice and I'm glad I got to see a couple of other bloggers. Will be writing about that soon... Can't wait to see our photos!

salon review: STUDIO ZEN SALON (Katipunan)

*Disclosure- all services provided for free.

25
Last Saturday I got a chance to try out the services at Studio Zen Salon. I went to their newly-opened branch at Katipunan and was lucky enough to check it out before the grand opening (April 11). The place was busy when I arrived but I was entertained right away and didn't have to wait at all.

I decided to get a haircut that day since I went by a whole month without getting my hair trimmed (I get a cut every two weeks!). I'll save you from my usual school sched rants, but I'll say that I was SO thankful my horrible month ended with a nice trip to the salon. My hair was so uneven and thick already so I told them that I wanted it short and thinned out. My stylist that day was Pat and I told him to color it however he wanted to. I know it's a big risk to trust a stylist you've never worked with before but I was THAT BORED with my hairstyle.

Gigi was my photographer that day and not a single photo was out-of-focus. SO amazing.

Most salons don't cover my face when I get a trim. I always end up with so much snippets of hair on my face so I was thankful that they had that clear cover to help!

Pat was taking his time and I just kept looking at the way my hair was getting shaped- it was SO cool. He even mentioned that my hair was suited for "competitions" (LOL) since you could shape it in any way and the style would always come out nicely because of its thickness and texture. 'Twas so nice of him to say that cos I hate how my hair is so thick. It always looks messed up if I don't apply any product or have it trimmed when I'm growing it out...

Getting it colored...

Gigi said I looked like I had an illness of some sort. :))

Purple bangs! They also lightened the rest of my hair a bit.

I took photos around the place since I loved the clean, white interiors!

Super friendly people of Studio Zen!
They were very courteous. One of my pet peeves when going to spas or salons would have to be noisy staff. Here, they were focused on their jobs and they didn't chat too much when there were customers.

I KNOW... My eyes look super scary but this shows the true color of my hair now.

They have this new "All You Want" promo and the 8 different services are surprisingly affordable. That means you just have to pay once and you can go back anytime to avail of the same service for a whole month!

Haircut- P390/month
(unlimited haircut sessions)

Hairset- P990/month
(blow-dry, iron and curl anytime)

Manicure & Pedicure- P590/month
(clean, cut and color as you please)

Foot Spa- P960/month
(an everyday treat to your feet)

Hand Spa- P590/month
(a healthy habit for haggard hands)

Body massage- P1390/month
(get a relaxing rub regularly, from 11AM to 6PM)

Hot oil- P1490-P2960/month
(shine and revitalize every week)

Bonacure- P2960-P3890/month
A month-long rescue and repair for your hair.

I am lovin' my cut and color! So glad that I don't have to put as much product on my hair anymore. And I didn't even have to give any instructions as to how I wanted it to look like. Usually I'd bring a photo or give the stylist detailed/specific instructions. Definitely going back to maintain this cut or to get another style if I get sick of it.

Thank you so much to Studio Zen for inviting me and for the lovely salon experience! :)

day-to-day makeup (updated)

c

My hair's so long already! I'm trying out a pixie cut for a change... Getting bored as usual.

[b&w version here]

post3
What I currently use everyday to look decent (if I'm not too busy or when I know I'm gonna bump into someone I know. LOL):

Face:

1. MAKE UP FOR EVER'S #25 DUO MAT POWDER FOUNDATION- I don't use the sponge to apply this on my face. I use a retractable brush from the Body Shop and use it as a blotting powder. It's the best powder I've tried so far (but also the most expensive). I don't use up all of it right away since I use a brush.

2. NARS BLUSH IN ORGASM & BRONZER IN LAGUNA

Eyes:

1. MAC CHARCOAL BROWN MATTE EYE SHADOW- I use this on my brows and apply it using an angled/straight-edged brush

2. MAC BROW SET IN BEGUILE

3. MAC ZOOM LASH- I don't like this mascara at all. Makes my lashes clump together. Will try another mascara from MAC or go back to Dior/Chanel when it runs out. MaxFactor has some good mascaras but I stopped buying from them when I found out that they tested on animals... If the buying stops, they will take action, so please spread the word.

4. URBAN DECAY 24/7 GLIDE-ON PENCIL IN ZERO- the best eyeliner in the world. I'm running out and I have to let someone ship me some from Sephy soon! This eyeliner duo (Zero and Whiskey) came with the Naked palette I got from my friend Holly. I draw a thick line on my eyes and smudge it so it's not too harsh.

snippy snap

a video by
Inez Moro
featuring an original from the Walkie Talkies- Uncertainties!
Love, love, loooove black and white photos and films! Finally have one with me and Riz in it. Thanks, Inez!!! It was a really quick shoot but we love the outcome! :)

New cover from us!
Spice Girls' "STOP" by
Walkie Talkies :)
been wearin lots of bracelets thanks to Charmed Life

yup.

Finally did it.
I've always wanted to chop off my locks since I never had fun with them anyways. Plus I think I'm never gonna get used to the heat in the Philippines! Mum was the one who was so nervous... She even kept my hair! LOL. I just really wanted it short. Issa and I made a deal to get a shocking haircut during her birthday (September) this year... We both did it a few weeks after her birthday, but we both didn't know that we were going to scrap out our original plans and just get a pixie cut! Her plan was to have undercuts on each side of her head but leave the top short, while mine was to shave just one side of my head and leave the other really long (think Alice Dellal).

Wasn't able to check my computer for a couple of days last week, but my friend mentioned that Issa's hair was really short already... Posted a photo of my haircut a few days after sporting it (and it's really better not to post a photo first- the reactions I get from friends- PRICELESS!)and found that the only difference between my cut and Issa's haircut was that she left her bangs flowy, while I chose to style the top a little with some wax! Great minds think alike, eh? :)

We're both liking the short hair... We've had long locks since forever! People here at home all wanna get haircuts now... but nobody wants to cut theirs as short as mine! LOL... I think you should just go for it if you really want to try it out. Quite happy that even my schoolmates think it looks better than my long hair (which I never even combed or styled on a daily basis, oops)... And that I look younger... Well I think I still look old whenever I wear makeup and wear heels. I can't really change much about my manly/strong features. Boo. And oooh, mum keeps saying that it makes me look like a real musician now. Totally LOLd at that comment!!!

And oh, it looks sorta gray-ish on the photo but I'm telling you, it's still my natural hair color. Don't be fooled. AND that video really doesn't do any justice to it... We filmed at around 1 in the morning after our gig at FEU plus a whole day of walking, so excuse its messy state! I love short hairrrr... I'm hoping this'll motivate me to not gain any weight and continue to keep fit. Super low-maintenance, I can mess it up, let people touch it and it would still look fine. Why didn't I do this earlier? More girls should feel this sort of freedom just like guys!!! Was able to reflect on how much money girls have to spend on treatments and hair products... Wow... Never realized all the unnecessary things salons fool us into doing... (not that I hate them, it's nice to get pampered once in a while!)

**Got my first haicut at Emphasis, Rockwell and then convinced mum to allow me to cut it even more right after at Bench Fix, Serendra.
