i have a new weapon

1
I asked Chai to model for me yesterday for Skinny Sweets. We used one booth at our exhibit and this is her doing makeup at our booth. Thankfully we were assigned to a bathroom-- well-lit vanity, yes! I wasn't able to snap photos when Essa arrived with our stylist and other model but we pretty much used the entire room for makeup & wardrobe changes.

I met Chai at a photo shoot for What A Girl Wants last year and only got to talk to her when we both modeled for a fashion show of the same campaign a week after that. She surprised everyone at the show because she walked in with a pixie cut! That was also the same time I was sporting a faux-hawk.

The only short-haired girls at the show :))

Now we're both growing out our hair and she considers that her awkward length even if that's the length I want to achieve.

She's based in Manila now and she works for the MAC counter at Rustan's (Glorietta). She's actually a registered nurse but she's trying to pursue her passion of becoming a makeup artist (she's just waiting to get certified by MAC). She's also modeled for a few things here and got accepted at 2 of the biggest agencies but she can't do it full-time because of work. She discussed to me her frustrations about the modeling industry here and I sort of expressed how a lot of models would've killed to get the opportunities she's been getting. I'm just really proud of her for chasing her dreams! GO CHAI! :)

Will post the final photos soon. I still have another shoot to do for our new cupcakes!

After the photo shoot I rushed back to Rockwell to get some materials for our team's game for the exhibit's closing party that night. I also stopped by the Global Pinoy Bazaar to claim my new pair of DAS shoes

3

The girl selling accessories was also a Cebuana and she was telling me how pretty the shoes were. She actually wanted to get 5 styles from DAS that day, too!

5
Lemme tell you, they are insanely comfortable because the platform's made really well and they're cushioned like all their other styles.

Here are some more photos of DAS 24:

6
7
I love this pair since the style is pretty classic but it has a twist behind it.

8
Killer heels indeed! I'm sure I can't wear these out clubbing cos I might leave everyone bleeding, but they are so pretty and they make my legs look miles long!

Oh and friends, please be careful about fake accounts claiming to be the owners of DAS. Neeresh and Sureen handle all the orders and accounts themselves and they told me about people contacting them after paying to another person with a fake receipt. It's always a big risk to establish your business online. Some people even grab photos from DAS (that's why watermarks are so crucial) and when customers receive the package the product looks totally different since the photo isn't theirs in the first place. Order only through the contact details posted on their website/Facebook page

I think I'm done with shoes til the year ends. I have to stock up on clothes now so I can set aside my old clothes for the 2nd Bloggers United Bazaar!!! DECEMBER 3- mark your calendars, guys! :)

basic makeup photo shoot

I took these screencaps using my iPhone so pardon the quality of the portraits!

Crappy and unflattering OOTD photo :P
I wore a polo over that (it was too chilly and I had to wear a tube top for the shoot) plus my Aldo heels. And oooh mum gave me a new navy blue Swatch MyGent! Woop!

I did a shoot a while ago at Sid's place since Miles had to do an instructional/step-by-step everyday makeup guide. Luckily my skin was clear even after 2 days of the rough activities under the harsh sun, cold rain, MUD, dirty water and dust during our teambuilding activity in Laguna. I lacked sleep as usual, but again I was having a good skin day so hopefully I saved Miles from a bit of retouching (LOL).

Her mum, tita Marites, is a licensed interior designer and I had fun chatting with her during the long drive to Las PiƱas. She knew a lot of my professors and I got to share with her my experiences as an interior design student in PSID. Told her about my plans on taking up lighting design after taking the board and she had a lot of stories to share about her suppliers. She shared my sentiments when I told her that a lot of people don't know the amount of work we face. When a course has the word "design", people automatically think that it's all just artsy and creative, when in reality it's highly technical, jam-packed with theory and it squeezes the life out of you. Well at least we get the gratification of seeing the final outcome/our work as beautiful spaces that everyone can appreciate...

The shoot took a while since we had to freeze during each step just so Miles could take the perfect "instructional" shot. One basic makeup look took us 5 hours, then we took a break to eat and the last look only took another hour since the steps weren't documented anymore.

I almost dozed off during some parts since I had to stay still on the makeup chair the whole time, plus the AC was on full blast beside me just so I wouldn't sweat under the harsh studio lights. We got home really late, but 'twas still fun working with the Magcase team! And oh, thanks to Miles and tita for trusting my face to work just fine with the bare-faced shots! You're both too kind. :))

Heima collection 2.0 catalogue

Get a copy of Heima's catalogue now! Available at their Makati or Cubao branch.

Arlene Sy did the super cute layout. Got these pics from Danika who styled us for the shoot.

Sammi still has my copy, but here's a twitpic of how it looked like on print:

Oh sheeesh I look so unapproachable indeed! :))

Here are screen caps from the online version:

Me with the short hair...

and then wearing a WIG! LOL!

I can't stop laughing at this photo. I remember everyone calling me "madame" during the shoot. MWAHAHAHA!

Outfits from Christopher's Lodge

WAGW
I don't normally post photos of features here cos I'm so anal-retentive about the post-processing/editing and alignment (which I haven't perfected) on my blog... but this is an exception since I adore Kryz, What A Girl Wants and I occasionally like posting photos of pretty things. I owe you guys pictures of decent outfits! :))

from the Sunstar

This is on LookBook and Chictopia
More photos of all the looks here.
You can place your orders here.

My beau and I are featured on CandyMag! My stylish friends are also on the list... Woopwoop!

WAGW
I don't know what got in my head when I wrote down "edgy"- but I think it was too keep me from writing down: "Anything comfy and edgy like the pambahay look that I just LOVE wearing since it's so hot in this country and I sweat really easily... And nothing too feminine because I can't force myself to be super prim and proper/ladylike the entire night... I just CAN'T."

Gosh, nobody can outdork me.

WAGW
Who else was given the task to give him things to say for the interview??? Is it obvious from his answer? LOL. Good thing he agrees O_O

Did y'all notice that he copied my pose?! Just kidding... We both didn't notice that we were doing this for Candymag.

WAGW fashion show//Girls' Night Out fashion party

Walked with Olga around Shangri-la Mactan to find Cowrie Cove... Haven't been here in a long time. I miss it.

The lineup

Camille of Coexist was also here for a photo shoot with What A Girl Wants! She introduced me to Laureen Uy who was also an upcoming brand ambassador for the line. The whole group will be revealed this January.

Yanyan's shoes from Parisian.

My Swatch MyGent and Mia's Goldfinger limited edition Swatch watch... This photo doesn't do it justice, it looked so awesome in person! When she mentioned it was from Swatch, I was so surprised then I quickly realized that it was the same watch that I wanted over a year ago, but I never got the chance to buy it since I never liked wearing gold accessories. Now I regret it. This watch is really eye-catching.

Mia will never lose her LA hipster style. She is one of my more talented/busy friends from Cebu. She graduated just months ago from FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) and made the decision to come back to the Philippines. Since then, she's been assigned as the creative/operations director of Ferimar Inc. (her mom's company), trends editor of Zee Lifestyle Magazine and is coming up with her own brand called MIAARCENAS BRAND. Wow. Did I mention that she was a singer and a model in Cebu, too? She's gotten offers to join show business (she's Matteo Guidicelli's cousin) but she's also not too keen about the sacrifices one would have to make, especially since you may have to change your lifestyle so much.

Oh, and we have one thing in common- she's also in a long-distance relationship! Jimmy is in LA, and in a month or so my beau is heading to Michigan. She gave me some tips on how to survive the time difference, loneliness, etc.

The first time I met Chai was during our photo shoot [video] just 2 weeks before this show... She had really long locks back then and was surprised she cut it when she arrived during rehearsals! She said that she got the idea after seeing me, and her boyfriend loves styling her hair now... Well in my case, my beau forces me to style his hair when we're in the same city. LOL.I think she rocks it and looks even more like a supermodel.

Here's to the short-haired girls club! Oh and we all agree that hair length is not gonna help you with the hot weather we have to live with... Long or short, we still complain about the extreme heat!

It lacks an E. :)

With Love and Donique, the girls of Wearintheworld.

Thanks to my friends who braved the scary weather to see me and watch the show!!! Awww :)

Oh yesss Issa is slowly making her hair stand to sport that fauxhawk!!! The purple and blue streaks are just as awesome.

With Mikel Rama, an upcoming What A Girl Wants For Her Man brand ambassador.

With the cousins- Mia, Issa and Cheska.

Photos I grabbed & post-processed from Mikey (he posted videos on his blog post about the event):

Oh yes, we had to smile and walk the runway to the tunes of Pomplamoosemusic.

My relatives in Manila were sending us photos of the turkey they were having for thanksgiving through MMS, but Dad and I were in Cebu for the weekend (he was in the Inventors Society contest in Ayala) so we had a small thanksgiving celebration sans the turkey.

After the WAGW show + fashion party, I didn't have the chance to sleep so I quickly packed my stuff for my 5am flight. Good thing I woke up my mom- she and my brother were taking the same flight! Hilarious panic-packing took place :))

When I graduate and take some months off before board exam reviews, I swear I'm going to spend a couple of days at the Shangri-la Mactan Resort plus other lovely hotels in Cebu!!!

I miss my island paradise.
