holiday specials from 2nd's

I was invited to sample some of the Christmas specials from 2nd's last night and asked Lissa & Camille to try them with me... 2nd's is known for really great comfort food & an upscale dining experience so I was excited to see what they were adding to the menu. Really interesting flavors going on and sure enough, each dish really reminded me of Christmas!  

CHICKEN RELLENO ROULADE 

Chicken leg stuffed with sausage and roasted chestnuts. Served with potato & pumpkin dauphinoise, french beans, and peppercorn whiskey jus.

-Loved the potato & pumpkin dauphinoise! Cams said this was her favorite, too. 

CHRISTMAS HAM & QUEZO DE BOLA CROQUETAS

Served with truffled aioli

-Even if I had to take out the ham, this was still really tasty. 

CINNAMON & PINEAPPLE GLAZED PORK BELLY “HAM” 

Served with warm red sauerkraut and rosemary browned butter potatoes

GINGERBREAD COOKIE & EGGNOG ICE CREAM SANDWICH

-LOVED IT

PUTO BUMBONG GNOCCHI

Served with desiccated coconut pinipig, gata butterscotch, and coco sugar.

-I really liked that they made a Filipino favorite more interesting.

Sundays

We're always at 2nd's on Sundays since we have church service there. We often end up having dinner there since the food's goooooood. When my friends want to meet up on weekdays and we have nowhere else to go, we end up here as well. The drinks are sorta pricey but they're the best!

I always order the Caprese Tower.

Riz got the lechon kawali

They have specials that you can't find on the menu so it's best to ask the waiter about it. Last Sunday they had this burger with eggs benedict and spam in it.

And this is officially the most sinful dessert. I love ittttt.

Fact: I like eating alone. I like my me time.

BIZU has great menu options for [pesco]vegetarians.

We had a gig last Friday at the Quantum Cafe. Arrived when they had a drum circle going on and some people did capoeira in the middle.

Plus there were some cool artworks.

Sunday-- Bloggers' Closet. I stayed for a few hours.

Went to 2nd's for Church Simplified. Had dinner there right after.

Okay, freaky smile... Riz braided Robin's hair while he was giving me tips on how to make my muscles smaller (apparently the weights I've been lifting are too heavy- it should be lighter weights and more speedy reps).

Oh yeah, you can now catch him on 105.9, from 9 AM to 12NN! And of course, MYX. Heh...

Stock Market...

We spotted a cuca... And another one a minute after the waiter killed it. They only noticed cos Sam was flailing and they were scared that I took photos.

I think this is also the only restaurant I've ever given a negative tweet to. The service is the same as the last time I've been there. Sad. They have FIC and the only Mango Sago I really like so I visit them for that...

And yes, I ended my post with the cucarachaaaa.
