goodies from gramps

Given to me a few months after I moved to Manila for good(2007). Dad got these babies out of my grandpa's closet.
Used my Sony prosumer cam to take these photos and used a white cartolina as my backdrop.

Film grain effect

Ixxie, my Canon Ixus 65 managed to slip out of my bag while I was scurrying my way out of a huge crowd last Saturday night/Sunday morning. It was the perfect party camera. After years of passing it around my friends to use during events/parties, it quickly became THEIR favorite cam and it was such a chore for me to upload everything right away since everybody wanted pics from that cam only. According to them, it made them look pretty and kickass. WELL.

I've been wanting to replace it for a few months now, ever since the HD video capturing technology's become a trending feature in the new digital cameras. I wanted the Nikon Coolpix s70 at first cos that was the only thing I liked during a trip to Best Buy in NY. Then I found the Leica D-Lux4 and fell in love with its black, boxy look (cos that's the way cameras should be!). And we all know that Leica lenses are top-of-the-line.
After thinking about the price of the Leica and how Lumix cams integrate Leica lenses as well, I decided to go for the Lumix LX-3.

Had to get a replacement cam cos we always have to take photos of our sample plates for school... Now my wallet's crying.

But oh well, I feel whole again! :D Time to find some more money-making schemes...

Speaking of money-making...
My dad and I are selling iPhone 3Gs units (16 gig) for Php 41,000. Globe sims.
E-mail me if you're interested.
This offer is for Cebu and Manila residents only.

Big Brotherrrrr

First... showbiz... post... ever...
I was at the Big Brother house last night to watch Tom come out of the house. Since le boyf's brother is also a housemate, we got access near the stage... I didn't want to be some paparazzi (LOL) so someone else had my cam and took the photos.

Tomorrow I'll have more reasons to watch the show since my gorgeous friend/schoolmate Sam Pinto will be the new addition to the house! This show's the only thing I watch on TV right now. To all my fellow Benildeans, watch the show tonight!
Can I just say... I was blinded by Toni Gonzaga's sparkly gold Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps. I don't even like gold, but DAMN.

Free greens

Dad bought for us Broccoli chips, mixed fruit chips, sugar free and green tea popcorn a while ago. THANKS DAD! :D

AND two days ago we received a HUGE box from ZestAir filled with vegetables, nuts and vegetarian sauce. Thanks to mum we're saving a lotta money. According to her, veggies are waaay cheaper in Cebu and they're better. Really, now? :))

Hi mum and dad, can you buy shoes for us please? Oh and school materials, too. HEHE. :D

I'm kidding. Food's enough. HEALTHY FOOD PLS. :)

***The box was about half of a balikbayan box and it only cost mum 500 Php / 10.70 USD to have it shipped from Cebu to Manila on the same day. Coolio!

For your random questions...

I now have a FORMSPRING.

questioning reasonings; dealing with the things at hand.

You can take the girl away from the city,
but you can't take the city away from the girl.

jacket- Anthology; boots- Zara

Finally got to update my LookBook and Chictopia accounts.
Hopefully I can squeeze in more time for them in the coming weeks.

I don't usually prepare a Christmas wishlist but there are just two things I've been lusting for.
Apple magic mouse
Sam Edelman Zoe boots

And oh, a quick trip to the beach please. It's been a while.

Videos from my iPhone 3Gs

The iPhone 3Gs can take videos on portrait mode!
Now I'm questioning whether there's really a need for me to buy a new camera.

It's hard to take self-shots since you can accidentally hit the video mode button.
The lighting was good and I wanted a vain picture. But whooops. I took a video of myself instead--lookin so dumb.

While rewriting the song "Uncertainties". Thanks for taking the cam from me, Rico! LOL.
(Uhh we sound so lazy. Been singing for hours tryin to improve the arrangement and lyrics. It was rainin cats and dogs outside, too.)

My cousin Alecsandra. My mini-me! :)

*edit: hosted the videos through Flickr this time. Much better.

for the love of HD videos

Here's another gadget dilemma.
I've been eyeing on the Flip MinoHD Camcorder and the Nikon Coolpix S70.

Flip MinoHD (60/120 min.) Camcorder

What I love:
  • You don't need a memory card for it. It stores 60/120 minutes of video (8GB internal memory) and all you have to do is use the USB to transfer and upload files to your computer.
  • The sleek chrome or black finish- sooo kickass. It'll match my gunmetal-colored titanium iPhone case.
  • You can also use a photo to design your own cam! But I need a friend to purchase it for me in the States since they won't allow an international billing address for checkout.
What I loathe:
  • Offers only up to 2x digital zoom
  • It's not intended to be a digital camera. No event/party/vain pics.

Nikon Coolpix S70

What I love:
  • HD movie mode- records video clips of important moments in high-definition up to 720p with sound
  • 12.0 megapixels of photo awesomeness
  • Touch screen display! (Tried using it at Best Buy and they made the controls similar to the iPod's)
  • Optical VR image stabilization!
  • Smile shutter and blink warning
  • 5x optical/4x digital/20x total zoom
  • Up to 6400 ISO (even beats my Nikon DSLR!)
  • Skin softening feature (Smoothes skin tone at 3 different levels for great-looking portraits.)
What I loathe:
  • Only has 20MB of internal memory (but that can be fixed with 4GB SD card! lol)
  • It's obviously more expensive than the Flip cam

So yeah, I'm asking for help here.

One reason why I'm considering getting the Flip cam instead of the Nikon is that I already have a Canon Ixus 65 (sorta dying on me cos I have to replace the battery). But I think I need to upgrade my point-and-shoot camera. My iPhone takes pretty clear videos but I can't use up all my memory to record clips and audio. I've been wanting to get the Nikon but the Best Buys at NY and SF ran out of black ones (I didn't want to get a ruby-colored camera).

Message me if you have any (good or bad) reviews about the Flip cam or the Nikon S70, please! AND if you can suggest better (HD) digital cameras for me to consider, send me note as well.

:)
