Cagayan de Oro (part 1)

A few of my high school batchmates and I decided to book tickets to Cagayan de Oro after Sinulog since my college buddies Ayen & Steph convinced us to visit while they were guests at my house. I've been to CDO before with the girls from PSID (see previous posts here and here) and I had loads of fun, so I was so excited to travel again with my childhood friends (most of us have been classmates from nursery til high school!).

Our group had 3 girls and 9 boys, plus Ayen and Steph (who flew in from Manila just for us!)

I arrived with Kaine, Jed and Javy first and our flight was at 4AM. River trekking was supposed to be the first thing on our agenda, but we had to cancel it since the rain was so strong that morning. We even thought a storm was coming! Thankfully the weather got better at around 11.

We waited for more people and had lunch at Candy's at the new Centrio/Ayala mall.

NIGHTMARES

We just HAD TO make our own Harlem Shake video, but it's for a good cause! We all wanted to help Robin promote his concert on March 2 so we decided to spend our Sunday night shooting this.

Aside from Rob, expect these amazing musicians to be in the concert...

I feel like it's been a while since I've actually written anything worth reading here. I have a short list of topics I've been wanting to write about (much of them touching on pre-quarter life crisis bullcrap) but most of the time they become futile attempts of disclosing feelings too common among the independent yuppies (Am I even considered one? Hope not). I'd like to think that most of the thoughts gathering inside my head are the same things people struggling to earn and survive alone in the city would conjure up. I think it's normal to constantly think of how quicker it would be to save up if I moved back to the province, or even move back in with my dad. Once I spend too much time daydreaming about that though, I immediately wake up to tell myself that I'm never letting go of this type of freedom!

My daily routine hasn't been too monotonous, but I have definitely toned down on night-outs with friends, and have cut back even more on shopping. I am now more accustomed to handling my own schedule and being able to work with zero makeup in my pajamas, and I think for now I'm thankful that I am able to do that. But I am striving even more to set some form of control and discipline, to make better choices and decide to do the right things. I've always been told to plan and have only realized recently that I've never set long-term goals nor have I penned a concrete schedule for my career. I think I've been trying to narrow down to specific responsibilities, trying to set daily regiments that I know will lead to better outcomes and payoffs.

I am now trying to accept the fact that some things just won't happen by chance, and that things won't be easily handed to me anymore. I may still act carefree, but these days I feel like I've been thinking about every detail of my life ten times more than I have ever done. Most days I feel like there's got to be an easier way to do things, but when did that ever guarantee growth with wisdom and maturity?

HAIR REVOLUTION

I was invited by L'Oreal Philippines to be one of the first few to try out their newest hair treatment at the Bench Fix salon in Glorietta.

The Steam Pod is an amazing new technology that is used for the Steam Care and Steam Bond service. It's the world's 1st Heat & High Pressure Steam Iron that treats the hair while smoothing it.  After 5 years of research and 8 patents, L'OrĂ©al combines the force of hair straightening steam and the ultimate repair of steam-powered Pro-Keratin for mirror-shine, long lasting results and ultimate care as there's no carcinogen gas forming through heat from rebonding or care treatments with formaldehyde.

I tried out the Steam Care service and the Steampod's anti-frizz and smoothing effect lasted up to 3 days. If you want a permanent smoothing service with Pro-Keratine you can opt for the Steam Bond- the effect is evident until your new hair grows!

As promised, my hair stayed super straight for days. I had sleek hair with mirror shine in time for my birthday! Being someone who doesn't own a comb and use heat styling tools, I really loved the effect of the Steampod. I even thought about straightening my hair permanently a few days after the treatment. What do you guys think?

L'Oreal Philippines is currently holding an online contest and they're giving away an iPad mini and steam pod treatments. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook as they're announcing the mechanics tomorrow. Good luck!
