Milan photo diary [part 3 of 3] - Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014

A mandatory photo of me at the venue just so this trip grants me points for my CPE booklet (we need it to maintain our Interior Design license, haha!)

Milan photo diary [part 2 of 3] - Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014

The Salone del Mobile was the main reason why I traveled to Milan a few months ago [view part 1 here]. I don't really travel out of the country unless it's business-related or if I know I can attend a convention in the city [Instagram is deceptive]. This was my first time to attend Salone and I think every designer should go at least once or twice!

See Music, Hear Design (Obra Para Sa Musika by PSID's batch 2013)

Kundiman, opera, tribal, zarzuela, novelty, Pinoy pop – the Philippines has a rich musical history showcasing various genres and styles. This is the highlight of “OPM: Obra Para sa Musika” the graduation exhibit of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) Advanced Class of 2013.

Marking the 46th anniversary of PSID, and co-presented by Glorietta mall, Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mangaawit (OPM), and the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP), this year’s exhibit aims to marry the interrelated fields of design and music by translating popular Filipino songs into aesthetically and functionally designed interior spaces.

The students were challenged to embody the tone and mood of their group’s assigned song and Filipino music in general and incorporate these into livable interior spaces. They researched not just on the basic design principles and ergonomics, but also on the background and story behind each song -- the characters, melodies, lyrics, composers and artists, and music genre.

Songs from different genres, traditional to modern, were used as inspiration for the different booths in the exhibit to showcase not just different design aesthetics but the richness and diversity of Filipino music. After visiting the exhibit, the audience is expected to have a renewed sense of appreciation for the beauty and exquisite musical heritage of our country as translated into the designs.

Slated on October 1-31, at the 3rd level of Glorietta 3, Ayala Center, Makati City, the exhibit showcases over 20 exquisitely designed spaces inspired by timeless Original Pilipino Music pieces.

MAMANG SORBETERO - Celeste Legaspi (ice cream shop)

This group had a dirty ice cream cart and gave away free ice cream during press day! So cool!

GROWING UP - Gary V. (teenager's room)

See the wall beside the bed? Those are actually stacks of magazines bound together and used as a soundproofing element for this space. Perfect for teens wanting to be in a band- they can rehearse with the band here. The grand piano study desk is also really cool! My sister would love this room.

KUMUKUTIKUTITAP - Ryan Cayabyab (candy store)

I felt like I was transported to Disneyland! This group took inspiration from a holiday store display in New York. Cute!

Jak En Poy: a sneak peek of our exhibit!- EXTENDED TIL NOV. 6!

I'm so happy about all the positive feedback our exhibit's been getting from the first few who've seen the booths during the alumni association party and press day.

As much as I want it to remain a surprise, my batch mates have been bugging me to blog about it already. Keep in mind that these photos do not do justice to the beauty of each booth! You really have to visit our exhibit. I'm not putting detail shots from each room so you all have something to look forward to when you decide to visit next month.  :)

Inca museum plate for Interior Design 4

Poster i made... Credits to the owners of these photos I found through Google!!!

Get ready for some RUSHED rendering.

We were assigned to Anthropological Museum: INCAS for our Interior Design 4 class and spent days working on this... We sorta crammed but thank goodness our concept and floor plan saved us! Our professor was in a good mood and didn't mind our rendering...

AND we gave up on calculating the lux/lumens for each room til the last minute... So happy that we weren't asked that question anymore! Pia, Toni and I got a 98 for this... WOOPWOOP! Not sleeping at all paid off!

We met Reese Lansangan of Reese and Vica. Was flailing when she said she was a fan of our music.
Her blog just screams "I'm full of awesome."

03.28.11 // 21:00

Some friends from Cebu came to Manila for their educational tours and a jam session just had to take place. Met some new talented friends from Ateneo, too.
New Orleans didn't allow a big group to make some noise since they had a performer that night, so we had to take the group to CAV (just across Agave at High Street). It was fun. Wine and music's always a great mix.

Can't tell you how happy I was to actually sit down and talk to my friends. It's been a long while.

03.31.11

Just a few rendered illustrations (Kurecolor markers on clearprint) of the costumes & makeup we proposed for the movie Star Trek... This was for our Workshop 2 class-- we had to completely redesign 7 of the sets/scenes from the movie as well, but my other group mates took those tasks so I was left to do the makeup/costumes along with the details. I didn't get to take a photo of everything since I was rushing for a shoot the next day.

Please be kind. I haven't drawn humans in 5 years (LOL). And I promise they didn't look that streaky IRL. My camera+Flickr just really sharpens edges. Boo.

Early call time. Weedge asked me to help him out with the set design of Barbie Almalbis Honasan's music video for her new song, Goodbye, My Shadow. We just had to use tons of furniture and decor from their house. Forgot to take a before & after picture but the change was so drastic!!!

The concept of the video is SO unique and time-consuming. I can't really reveal much but I'll just post the final thing once it's released. I can't wait to see it!!!

04.02.11 // 16:30
Fifi, Javy, Jed and I went with Steven to attend his cousin's event. He was part of Whiskey Hill and they opened their store/headquarters at the rooftop of some building in Makati last Saturday. Couldn't stay long to watch the bands since I had to edit some things but we managed to check out the place and watch some skaters before leaving.

I didn't really take too many photos since I just focused on forcing myself to actually TALK to people- to distract myself from thinking about the more stressful things. I took it as some sort of week-long break from school even if I still had projects. We don't have a summer break before our exhibiting term and graduation. Took advantage of the time my friends were on break instead. I never really see any of my high school buddies even if we live in the same city.

It's been months since I've spent time with my family. Riz is usually out or busy, locked in her room (I guess that's why you see us tweeting at each other instead of taking face to face, haha!) whenever we do end up at home at the same time. Some people have noticed that I was in a weird state, so thankfully the week provided some sort of remedy to whatever I was experiencing.

I am being played by those types of days that force you to become motionless. It's the same series of strong, self-destructive attacks that would've impaired the spirits of others... I really have to give myself credit for leaving just enough room for me to slowly rebuild and restrengthen my faith.

Gray skies are just clouds passing over.

AND ONE MORE THING...

207061_10150126449258037_722113036_6722094_4103628_n

I AM NOT ON YM.
I don't have a Yahoo! messenger ID. This hacker keeps trying to tell people that I'm pissed with my beau, or that I'm done with school and bored all the time. A lot of my friends STILL get fooled and talk to him/her about a lot of things. Guys, please please pleeeaaase be careful... I don't want any of you revealing any information to this sick person using my name. It's been more than a year and it's still on the loose!

DELETE, BLOCK AND REPORT.

Okay, freaky smile... Riz braided Robin's hair while he was giving me tips on how to make my muscles smaller (apparently the weights I've been lifting are too heavy- it should be lighter weights and more speedy reps).

Oh yeah, you can now catch him on 105.9, from 9 AM to 12NN! And of course, MYX. Heh...

We spotted a cuca... And another one a minute after the waiter killed it. They only noticed cos Sam was flailing and they were scared that I took photos.

I think this is also the only restaurant I've ever given a negative tweet to. The service is the same as the last time I've been there. Sad. They have FIC and the only Mango Sago I really like so I visit them for that...

And yes, I ended my post with the cucarachaaaa.
