This is how we practice for gigs-- we do videos so we can hear our voices properly :)
a cover of "I'm Good, I'm Gone" by Lykke Li
singing Riz's only Filipino song, "Ano"
"Almost Lover" by A Fine Frenzy
(we did this song 2 years ago but we had to record it again for something.)
Last Tuesday we ended up singing at Capone's. We went there cos we thought we were gonna have a meeting, but they asked us to perform 3 songs. Totally a spur-of-the-moment thing, so we did covers and failed to sing Riz's originals (even if we rehearsed 3 of them together in the car-- that's how we roll). It was fun! Performed right after Taken By Cars and before Rico Blanco.
We felt like super newbs compared to those other performers. Gosh! Scary. But it was an awesome experience!
And oh, we've been getting TONS of requests, you can't even imagine. It's hard to choose which songs to sing cos we don't wanna do anything too mainstream (or songs done too many times on YouTube), plus Riz has to play it and she's hella busy with school and coming up with new songs she was asked to do (she has to write 20 songs or something). Sorry if we haven't been doing any of your requests for now, I've lost track of how many requests we've been getting. If we think we can pull it off and make it "our own", we have to play it again and again and rehearse the harmonies. But your suggestions really help us, seriously. We're not so familiar with a lot of music out there, most especially the local music scene. Blame it on having a love-hate relationship with our TV and radio :P
Still having trouble deciding over the first or second name for our tandem. (meaning we've narrowed it down! Yay!)
Will keep you guys posted...

you both sing so great.. just a random question. did you used to live in USA?
Meabee! :) we did a cover of that song 1 or 2 years ago... Old crappy vid but I have an mp3 of a new recording we did last week. I'll ask Riz if she wants to remake the video of our cover :)
super great tandem!!! I guess, Ral&Riz is already great for the name of the tandem... Anyways, the way you sang the tagalog song, it looks like the voice who sang "Pag Agos" by Up Dharma Down, has thing big, tanggy, super "kakakilabot" voice that really catches people attention! Hehehe ;)
Anon 12:21- Thank you! Yeah, Riz wrote this song when she was 14, and that was right after I introduced her to Up Dharma Down's music. :) So I guess it rubbed off on her. a bit. haha.
hahaha, I'll vote for the second time, Ral&Riz would be the name of the tandem! lol, you should make some poll about it for a week, that would be fun! hehehe, speaking of "Up Dharma Down", that was coincidence, you may try also "Sitti", she has this vosa nova voice and songs that also fits with your voice. I hope you won't think this as something negative about it, comparing to other singers, but It such a great pleasure to give you some examples about singers that stays with the genres that you sang, I hope you will take this as a compliment. ;)
LOL sorry guys, that name wasn't accepted :)) and we sorta wanna drift away from that cos a lot of sister acts out there end up naming themselves ___ and ___. But I don't know, we'll see.
"mapaSAakin ka" is the proper term. i know filipino's not your language, but that's just really my OC-ness speaking. somehow i just can't reconcile the good melody and the wrong grammar.
lolcakes: OMG after singing this song over and over again for 2 years, nobody's ever corrected us cept you. Thank you!!!! Had to ask my mom about it even and she was like "oh yeah it sounds awkward." There are so many Filipino people around us and they never even bothered correcting us! But yeah, we'll work on the lyrics before doing a final studio recording. :)
Ral, I love your voice! and teh tandem :) I wanna download your versions of songs. haha can I do that? you guys reminds me of Corinne Bailey Rae. :) Keep it up!

That cover of Lykke Li's song is amazingggg! I wish I could download it haha..
I don't know if you've heard this, but your voice would carry this song soo well. It's called "Glory Box" by Portishead.
xo
